On October 23 at 1:00 pm the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City will be performing the final performance of Terrence Blanchard’s opera called Fire Shut Up in My Bones. This is the first time in the history of the opera company that a black composer’s work will be featured, and it has received rave reviews. This last performance will be broadcast live at local theaters here in St. Johns and Duval Counties. The work is about the life of New York Times journalist and author Charles Blow.
