Arts Groups Evaluate Impact of Arts and Culture Veto

In June, $32 million in cultural and museum grants were vetoed from the state budget, leaving First Coast Opera and other non-profit organizations across the state to evaluate the loss of anticipated funding.

According to the St. Johns Cultural Council, the Governor's veto affects 19 organizations in St. Johns County with over $2 million in funding requests that support jobs, programming, and tourism. This funding has been provided annually on some level, but for the first time, the arts will not receive any grant funding from the State of Florida in the coming year.

Now more than ever, support from our advertisers, donors and corporate partners is essential. First Coast Opera remains committed to a full vibrant 25th Anniversary Season. Individual donations can be made through our website at firstcoastopera.com, using the Donate button at the top of the page. Corporate partners are encouraged to reach out to fcopera@gmail.com and learn how we can build the ideal package or promotions and advertising.
