St. Augustine, FL – February 3, 2025 – On February 1, First Coast Opera (FCO) marked its 25th anniversary with a memorable black-tie gala at the Embassy Suites in St. Augustine Beach. With a stunning ocean backdrop, the event brought together local patrons for an evening of music and celebration.

The highlight of the evening was a performance by world-renowned Spanish composer Juan Antonio Simarro. Accompanied by a small ensemble, Maestro Simarro performed selections from his acclaimed Symphony for a Better World and other international works, including compositions for UNESCO's 75th Anniversary in Spain.
“This extraordinary event exceeded expectations,” said Kerry Fradley, FCO President. “It’s a performance that sets the bar for our future."
Guests also enjoyed the fiery sounds of ZaZa Flamenco, St. Augustine’s own fusion group blending jazz, rumba, flamenco, and contemporary music, keeping attendees dancing late into the night.
“This gala brought world-class cultural experiences to the First Coast,” shared event organizer Maria Montoya. “The support from our community has been incredible.” With its 25th anniversary behind it, FCO looks forward to its upcoming production of The Magic Flute in March.
